Jiujiang Jiangzhou Town calls for people from other towns to return to their hometowns to fight floods

"Villagers, when you see this letter, your hometown needs you again. As of 21:30 on July 2nd, the water level in the Jiujiang section of the Yangtze River has reached an ultra-high level of 21.62 meters, exceeding the warning water level by 1.62 meters. At the same time, heavy rainfall will continue in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in the future, and the water level will continue to rise, making the flood control situation extremely severe."

On the evening of July 2nd, the Flood Control and Drought Relief Command Headquarters of Jiangzhou Town, Chaisang District, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province issued another "letter": strongly calling on all the elderly and hardworking villagers in the town to immediately gather and act quickly, and invest in the front line of flood control and disaster relief.

Jiangzhou Town is an island town formed by the impact of river water, surrounded by the Yangtze River on all sides. The actual permanent population of this town with a total area of 108.38 square kilometers is only 6000 people. In 2020, Jiangzhou Town issued a letter to the villagers of Jiangzhou at a water level of 21.98 meters on the Yangtze River. On the second day after this letter was sent, more than 2000 young and middle-aged people returned to their hometowns to fight against floods. Later, nearly 7000 wanderers returned to their hometowns to help ensure the safety of the flood season.

In this year's "Letter to the Outsiders of Jiangzhou", the Jiangzhou Town Flood Control and Drought Relief Command stated that during the midsummer period, floods hit. Affected by multiple factors such as upstream inflow and heavy rainfall, the water level of rivers and lakes in Jiangzhou Zhenjiang has rapidly risen, and the flood control situation is exceptionally severe. The emergency response to flood control in the region has been continuously upgraded from level four to level one. At a water level of 19m in the Yangtze River (Jiujiang Station), the town party committee and government quickly held a flood control mobilization meeting, formulated a flood control plan, and constructed a four level flood control system including the town flood control headquarters, flood control command post, flood control brigade, and flood control outpost. They mobilized the manpower, material resources, and financial resources of the entire town for flood control. More than a thousand district level party members and cadres, as well as all party members and cadres in the town and villages, ate and lived on the embankment 24 hours a day. However, facing the continuously rising water level and the 34.56km long patrol dam, our flood control personnel are severely short, and personnel deployment is very tight.
