Russia declares a federal state of emergency in Kursk Oblast
On August 9th local time, Korpnkov, the mayor of Kurchatov City in Kursk Oblast, Russia, stated that due to ongoing combat operations ten kilometers away, the situation in the city is tense and has decided to enter a state of emergency. However, all government departments and enterprises in the city are working normally.
Korpnkov called on local residents not to panic.

On August 9th local time, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that after a special meeting of the government committee for preventing and eliminating the state of emergency and ensuring fire safety, Kursk Oblast has entered a federal level state of emergency and a federal level response mechanism has been established in Kursk Oblast.
The news also stated that more than 80 residents from border settlements in Kursk Oblast, including 24 children, have been evacuated to Oryol Oblast. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Oryol Oblast government jointly arranged temporary resettlement sites for evacuated residents, and psychologists from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations provided psychological assistance. In addition, evacuated residents were also provided with food, medicine, and necessary information.
