In mid July, several parents claiming to be from Yantai City, Shandong Province, posted articles questioning the local education department's mandatory fees. They said that after their child's primary school entrance examination this year, it was required to download the "Good Score" app to check their grades. The app not only has many advertisements, but also requires VIP recharge for checking grades and incorrect questions in advance, ranging from 365 yuan to 488 yuan per year.

On July 17th, the reporter consulted with the Education and Sports Bureau of Fushan District, Yantai City regarding the above-mentioned doubts. The staff responded, "Recharge parents have gradually refunded their fees, and the app has been restored to free

On the 18th, the reporter tried to contact the developer of the "Good Score" app - Beijing Xiuqi Zhiping Technology Co., Ltd., but the other party's phone was always turned off.

Yantai Xiaosheng needs to download the "Good Score" app and recharge for the initial score check

Do I need to recharge 365 yuan to check my grades and answer wrong questions?

On July 17th, the reporter contacted Ms. Guo, a parent of a student from a primary school in Yantai. She explained that around July 12th, the school notified that the "Good Score" app could be downloaded to check grades. After logging in, the parents found that the app not only had many advertisements, but also required a VIP recharge to check grades and correct questions one day in advance. "It ranges from 365 yuan to 488 yuan a year, and they even said that they can read wrong questions for free after recharging, but how can it be called free if they have already recharged

On July 17th, the reporter contacted the Education and Sports Bureau of Fushan District, Yantai City regarding parental questions. The staff stated that the bureau had previously used an online grading system with software, but the scores and data were confidential and belonged to the Education and Sports Bureau. The software's publication of scores was suspected of breach of contract.

On the afternoon of the 12th, after receiving complaints from parents, the bureau held a meeting with the person in charge of the Yantai branch of the 'Good Score' app on the 15th, and gave a warning talk about the company's problems, including the negative consequences caused by risk hazards. The staff said, 'We do not allow software companies to have any contact with parents or students, nor do we allow fees. After the follow-up work is completed, we will hold the company accountable.'

Why is there a situation of fee based score checking? The staff of the bureau explained that the person in charge of the Yantai branch of the "Good Score" app stated during an interview that after the Spring Festival this year, due to software upgrades, the paid query port was opened by default and was exposed during the initial score check for this promotion.

School: Apologized and refunded to parents

The staff also admitted that there were indeed loopholes in the supervision of the Education and Sports Bureau in Fushan District, Yantai City.

After the Spring Festival, we did not conduct any research on the charging port until the issue was exposed, which resulted in insufficient and untimely understanding of the charging situation. At the same time, the staff said that the school has apologized to parents at the parent teacher conference and has gradually refunded the recharge fees of 9 parents.

In addition, some parents have questioned why the school does not directly disclose the scores to students or parents, believing that downloading the app and registering is unnecessary.

The above staff explained that after the previous results were announced, most schools in the area distributed paper result sheets to inform students and parents, but the result sheets were lost and parents repeatedly consulted. "We learned from the previous research that the software company was large in scale and various facilities were relatively complete, so we cooperated with the company's marking platform at that time."

At present, the app has been restored to free and is still in use. As for whether the cooperation will be suspended in the future, the staff said they will conduct a risk assessment of the company again. "If 100% supervision cannot be implemented, we will no longer cooperate with the company

According to the official website information, the developer of the "Good Score" app is Beijing Xiuqi Zhiping Technology Co., Ltd. According to Qichacha, Beijing Xiuqi Zhiping Technology Co., Ltd. was established in 2014 with a registered capital of over 8.68 million yuan. Public information shows that the company is involved in dozens of dishonest persons, persons subject to enforcement, restrictions on high consumption, and abnormal business operations, with a total amount of millions of yuan involved. On July 18th, the reporter tried to contact the company, but the other party's phone was always turned off.
