On October 10th, the Shenzhen Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision announced the dismissal of Zhong Gengchi, the former director of the Freight Management Branch of the Municipal Transportation Bureau, from his party membership, and the determination of his retirement benefits as a second-level staff member, as well as the collection of his illegal gains from disciplinary violations.

Shortly after, the netizen's grandfather Zhong Gengci responded that the statement that "there are 9 figures in the family" was untrue, and he "worked honestly until retirement". His original unit, the Shenzhen Transportation Bureau, issued a notice stating that he had intervened in the verification.
In an interview with the media, Zhong Gengci also said that some of the online comments were fabricated by netizens, and there were also cases of impersonation of accounts. He said that his granddaughter is currently crying uncontrollably due to her controversial remarks.
